A short path but one of intense historical and scenic value. The main destination is Sant’Andrea in Percussina where Casa Machiavelli, also known as Alòbergaccio, is located. It is precisely in this picturesque and suggestive place that the famous writer and politician Niccolò Machiavelli retired into exile from Florence. And right in this magical place, between wineries and family forests, Machiavelli wrote the De Principatibus, the famous “Il Principe”. The air is the one of the sixteenth century but also the one of the more recent nine hundred when this place transformed into an admirable agricultural environment, strong of its famous wine.

Stage considered easy only for its brevity, as it goes up to San Casciano Val di Pesa with a short stretch of 300 meters at 16%. The road of Pisignano is a solitary and beautiful one, surrounded by olives and cypresses. The real fatigue ends shortly before the mill and the journey to San Casciano becomes more human. The entrance to the city, a former post station, takes place from the provincial road n°12 and immediately shows the profile of the historic center intended to be a good place for rest and refreshment.
