“Ghino di Tacco piglia l’abate di Clignì e
medicalo del male dello stomaco e poi il lascia
quale, tornato in corte di Roma, lui riconcilia
con Bonifazio papa e fallo friere dello Spedale.”

(Boccaccio)

The Village-road on Via Francigena, between Val d'Orcia and Val di Paglia, stands majestically on a volcanic cliff overlooking the Amiata and, from the imposing Rocca, controls the endless pastures as far as Lazio. The territory of Radicofani, immersed in a solitary nature and ancient charm, is part of the Val d'Orcia Park and recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Radicofani and the village of Contignano are mandatory arrival places for those who walk or pedal along the Via Francigena. They offer original historical evidence, genuine food and authentic hospitality so much so as to offer a set of reasons to stay and learn the secrets of Ghino di Tacco, the gentleman bandit; the healthy waters that flow from the Amiata and the traditions of a historic Sienese enclave where the Medici built the Osteria, a huge post station.
Ravioli, cheese and ricotta cheese, onions and chestnuts are some of the valuable typical products of the area.
Orange flag of the Touring Club.

The symbolic path of Radicofani is the Francigena which crosses it for 15 km. The Ghino di Tacco ring, on the other hand, surrounds the communal territory along low-traffic roads and allows you to get to know the entire perimeter. Very interesting is the connection with the Tour Val d'Orcia Amiata that allows you to get into the heart of the mountain. A very dense network of off-road trails suitable for MTB allows you to penetrate into the heart of the woods and gullies of a land not devoid of surprises and undoubted charm.
