A nice path to be done strictly by mountain bike and with the necessary caution, since it is considered challenging for its 1121m of elevation gain in just 45km. The trace is spectacular and it consents to touch important and historic testimonies such as the Abbazia di San Michele Arcangelo in Passignano. In some of the segments this route overlaps with the Ciclabile della Pesa, which offers moments of peace to the cyclists.

From Tavarnelle Val di Pesa you leave through Via Spicciano to enter a dirt road for a little over a kilometer. You get back to the beautiful white road of Pianacci after meeting a row of cypresses. You go down until meeting Prumiano and then climb up to enter the SP101. The stretches of gravel alternate with paved roads, in a quiet and nature-filled environment. To reach the ancient municipality of Sicelle, you go up a forest, reaching a maximum height of 499 meters, and then quickly descend between ancient farm houses surrounded by olive trees and vineyards.

In Sicelle, be aware of the steep slope on the secondary Maremmana road leading to the Pesa river and its homonymous cycle path, meeting it a few hundred meters from its beginning in Sienese land. For 4 kilometres, follow this cycle path until you reach the Mulino dell’Abate and climb a few steep slopes to Poggio a Vento. The dirt road is completely immersed in the forest, until reaching a paved road just before the Abbey of Passignano, the imposing monastery-castle adorned with superb cypresses. From Badia a few meters of asphalt, at the same height of a small chapel, guide you back to the wooded paths that lead to Pratale. You descend to the industrial area where the headquarters of the Consorzio Chianti Classico is also located, carefully cross it and soon return to breathe good air, always going up towards the destination in Tavarnelle. For the more tired, and not only, we suggest a stop halfway up to admire the Roman parish church of San Pietro in Bossolo.
